It all started when…

I started practicing yoga 30 years ago. It began with poses, and then I learned breathing and meditation techniques. Certain practices would elicit feelings of grief, anger, joy. If the feelings weren’t “good” I had a tendency to fall off the yoga practice map for a few weeks.

My teacher called me out on it and I decided to give it some attention. Book studies, retreats, and workshops began in an attempt to understand this mind-body connection. After a few years, I went to Kripalu and lived there for a month as I trained to become a yoga instructor. I came back from that experience with an understanding of compassion I never realized had been missing before.

I continued my studies with Becky Gelatt to complete another 300 hours of training, earning my certification from The Yoga School of Covington, and my eventual Yoga Alliance registration as an E-RYT 500. Becky is Iyengar and Viniyoga trained. There was an exactness to her teaching and a high demand for attention to the most of subtle of details. My love of anatomy grew tenfold.

After my training, I continued to teach studio classes but I also began leading teacher trainings and my focus was drawn towards special populations…mainly, people who needed yoga and believed they didn’t fit the mold for it. I took myself to every lecture, training, and workshop offered by the best of the best.

I’m certified, through my trainings with Dr. Loren Fishman, to work with clients who suffer with low back and spinal pain, and the ever-so-prevalent disease of osteoporosis. I am currently working towards my training with Leslie Howard in pelvic floor health for those suffering from pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence, constipation, and other pelvic floor challenges.
